Udana Vayu: Transformation Through Backbends & Chanting
Sunday, March 28th, 12-3pm
Instructor: Aaron Price
Cost: $43
Space is limited, so please register by 3/26. Click here to register.

The Udana Vayu is a specific type of Prana that is responsible for our ability to grow in positive ways, to transform. It is the power to move from where we are today to a higher, previously unattainable place, to ascend. As yogis and yoginis, we tend to focus a great deal on practices that nurture and nourish Pran, Samana, and Apana, which coincide (respectively) with our abilities to take in raw material, to convert that into energy, and to eliminate the unwanted by-products of that process. However, without Udana, once we have that energy in our system, there is no guarantee that it will be used in ways that are beneficial. It is Udana that enables us to use our powers for good instead of for evil.

In this workshop we will explore ways to both increase and refine our Udana. This will include a rigorous asana practice that will focus mainly on backbends while incorporating inversions and twists. However, the most exciting aspect of the practice will be a focused session of chanting, which is by far one the most effective ways to both increase and balance Udana Vayu.

We will spend a short time in a lecture and discussion session that will cover an in-depth explanation of the Udana Vayu and mantra theory, but most of our time together will be spent practicing asana as well as learning and chanting mantra and prayers. It is important to note that the entire practice will be entirely non-sectarian, so please feel welcome to attend regardless of your religious faith or beliefs.

As always, please allow 3 hours to digest any food you've eaten before engaging in a yoga practice. Bring materials to take notes if you wish, and all your usual yoga practice accessories.

Space is limited, so please register by 3/26. Click here to register. For assistance with questions regarding this workshop, contact Aaron Price via email at aaron@ascendyoga.com
